We all leave this world. The question is—will you leave it fulfilled, or full of if onlys? Living a life of purpose, sincerity, and clarity means preparing for death not with fear, but with peace. Here’s how to live now so you can leave later—with no regrets.

1. Live Every Day Like It’s a Deposit for the Ākhirah

Each moment, word, and deed is building your akhirah. Ask: Will this matter when I stand before Allah? That question clears the noise and sharpens your focus.

2. Prioritize What Actually Matters

Faith. Family. Forgiveness. Sadaqah. Service. These are the things you’ll wish you gave more time to—not endless scrolling, comparison, or chasing status.

3. Keep Your Obligations Intact

Pray on time. Fast when required. Repent often. Fulfill people’s rights. A clean record starts with the basics—and ends with the mercy of Allah.

4. Let Go of Grudges and Unspoken Apologies

Don’t let ego delay the peace you owe someone—or yourself. Say sorry. Forgive others. You never know who will be gone tomorrow.

5. Give Sadaqah Jāriyah While You’re Alive

Set up a donation, sponsor an orphan, teach something beneficial. These will continue to benefit you after death—when you can no longer act.

6. Make a Daily Habit of Tawbah

No one leaves this world sinless—but you can leave it forgiven. Say Astaghfirullah often. The Prophet ﷺ did—over 70 times a day.

7. Keep One Ongoing Secret Act of Worship

A good deed only Allah knows about—reciting Qur’an, helping someone, giving quietly. That hidden light may be what tips your scale.

8. Don’t Delay the Hijrah of Your Heart

You know what you need to leave. You know what’s pulling you away from Allah. Don’t wait for the “right time.” Start now, even in small steps.

9. Be Present With People, Not Just Near Them

Listen fully. Speak kindly. Be a source of comfort. People may forget what you said—but they’ll remember how you made them feel.

10. Write Your Will and Make Peace With the Dunya

Don’t leave behind confusion, debts, or unresolved conflicts. Plan your departure the way you planned your life—with clarity and purpose.

11. Don’t Let Guilt Stop You From Returning

If you wasted time, hurt someone, or strayed far—come back. Allah doesn’t count how many times you fall. He counts how many times you return.

12. Live With Ikhlāṣ (Sincerity)

Whatever you do, do it for Allah. The deed done quietly, purely, and consistently is often more beloved than the one done perfectly.

13. Say “Lā ilāha illa Allah” Often

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever’s last words are ‘Lā ilāha illa Allah’ will enter Jannah.” (Abu Dawud) Train your tongue now so it remembers at the end.

14. Make Peace With Death by Living Fully Now

Death isn’t a loss—it’s a return. And the best return is for the one who lived each day like a step closer to home.

15. Ask Allah Daily: “Let Me Leave With a Clean Heart”

Say: “O Allah, take me when You are pleased with me, and make my last moments my best moments.”

You can’t control when you leave. But you can control how you live. And if you live with intention, sincerity, and surrender—you’ll leave with peace, not regret.
