Ruqyah (spiritual healing) is often associated only with protection from jinn, evil eye, or black magic. But the truth is, ruqyah is also a powerful tool for emotional and mental healing—including anxiety. Here’s how to use ruqyah practically and spiritually when anxiety takes over.

1. Recite the Key Verses with Presence

These ayāt are from the Qur’an and carry healing (shifā’). Recite them with reflection and trust—not just as a ritual, but with the belief that Allah is curing you:

Surah Al-Fātiḥah (1:1–7)

Ayat al-Kursī (2:255)

Last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah (2:285–286)

Surah Al-Ikhlāṣ, Al-Falaq, and An-Nās (3 Qul’s) — recite them 3 times, especially in the morning and evening.

2. Make Du‘a the Prophet ﷺ Made for Anxiety and Distress

Allāhumma innī a‘ūdhu bika min al-hammi wal-ḥuzn, wal-‘ajzi wal-kasal, wal-jubni wal-bukhl, wa ḍala‘id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijāl.

(O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and grief, from weakness and laziness, from cowardice and miserliness, from the burden of debt and the oppression of men.) — Bukhari

3. Blow Over Your Hands and Wipe Your Body

After reciting the 3 Qul’s, blow lightly into your hands and wipe your face, chest, and body. The Prophet ﷺ did this nightly for protection and calm.

4. Listen to Ruqyah When You Feel Overwhelmed

Play Qur’anic ruqyah audios softly in the background when your heart is racing or you feel mentally foggy. The sound of the Qur’an has a direct calming effect on the nervous system.

5. Add Dhikr to Your Daily Routine

Lā ilāha illa Allah, Al-Ḥalīm, Al-Karīm. SubḥānAllāhi Rabbil-‘Arshil-‘Aẓīm.

Hasbunallāhu wa ni‘mal-wakīl (Sufficient for us is Allah, and He is the best disposer of affairs.)

Lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh (There is no power or might except with Allah.)

These remembrances are spiritual anchors in emotional storms.

6. Use Zamzam Water With Intention

Drink or wash with zamzam water while reciting ruqyah verses. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Zamzam is for whatever it is drunk for.” (Ibn Mājah)

7. Ask for Healing by Allah’s Name—Ash-Shāfī

Say: Allāhumma anta Ash-Shāfī, lā shifā’a illā shifā’uka. Shifā’an lā yughadiru saqaman.

(O Allah, You are the Healer. There is no healing but Yours. Grant healing that leaves behind no illness.) — Bukhari

8. Combine Ruqyah With Action

Spiritual healing doesn’t cancel the need for emotional support, therapy, healthy routines, or professional help. Ruqyah strengthens your soul, while effort strengthens your recovery.

9. Protect Your Spiritual Gates

Limit things that increase anxiety—such as haram entertainment, harmful environments, or toxic company. Ruqyah also includes protecting the heart from what weakens it.

Ruqyah isn’t just for external harm—it’s for inner healing. When your heart races, your thoughts spiral, or your soul feels heavy, remember: the Qur’an is a cure for what’s in the chest. Treat anxiety not just with coping—but with connection.
