The virtues of sūrahs are not based on feelings or popular claims. They are known through authentic aḥādīth. Islam limits us to what the Prophet ﷺ actually taught, and that is where real barakah lies.

1. Sūrah al-Fātiḥah

Sūrah al-Fātiḥah is a pillar of ṣalāh and a source of healing.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“There is no prayer for the one who does not recite the Opening of the Book.”
[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 756 | Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 394]

It was also used as ruqyah.

Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī رضي الله عنه reported that a man recited al-Fātiḥah over someone who was ill, and he was cured. When this was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ, he approved it.
[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5736]

2. Sūrah al-Baqarah

This sūrah brings protection and repels Shayṭān.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Do not turn your houses into graveyards. Shayṭān flees from a house in which Sūrah al-Baqarah is recited.”
[Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 780]

Reciting it regularly brings protection into the home.

3. Āyat al-Kursī (al-Baqarah 2:255)

Āyat al-Kursī is a verse of protection, especially before sleep.

Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه reported that Shayṭān told him:

“When you go to your bed, recite Āyat al-Kursī… Allah will continue to protect you.”

When Abū Hurayrah told the Prophet ﷺ, he said:

“He told you the truth, even though he is a liar.”
[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 2311]

4. Sūrah al-Ikhlāṣ

This sūrah affirms pure tawḥīd and carries immense reward.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Say: He is Allah, One, equals one third of the Qur’an.”
[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5013 | Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 811]

It was also part of the Prophet’s ﷺ nightly protection.

5. Sūrah al-Falaq and Sūrah al-Nās

These sūrahs are for protection from harm, envy, and Shayṭān.

“When the Prophet ﷺ went to bed, he would cup his hands, recite al-Ikhlāṣ, al-Falaq, and al-Nās, and wipe over his body.”
[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5017]

6. Sūrah al-Kahf

This sūrah is a protection from the Dajjāl.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Whoever memorizes ten verses from the beginning of Sūrah al-Kahf will be protected from the Dajjāl.”
[Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 809]

It is also recommended to recite it on Fridays.

7. Sūrah al-Mulk

This sūrah intercedes for the one who recites it regularly.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“A sūrah of thirty verses interceded for a man until he was forgiven.”
[Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2891 | Ḥasan]

That sūrah is Sūrah al-Mulk.

8. Sūrah al-Baqarah (Last Two Āyāt)

The final verses of Sūrah al-Baqarah carry protection and sufficiency.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Whoever recites the last two verses of Sūrah al-Baqarah at night, they will be sufficient for him.”
[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5009 | Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 808]

The Qur’an is full of barakah.
But the strongest barakah is found where the Prophet ﷺ clearly pointed.
