A strong relationship with the Qur’an is not built by occasional bursts. It is built by daily contact, even if small, done with attention.

How to Build a Strong Relationship With the Qur’an?

1. Make It a Daily Non-Negotiable

Allah says:

إِنَّ هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ يَهْدِي لِلَّتِي هِيَ أَقْوَمُ

“Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most upright.”
[Qur’an 17:9]

Guidance comes from consistency, not occasional reading.

2. Start Small but Stay Consistent

The Prophet ﷺ said:

أَحَبُّ الْأَعْمَالِ إِلَى اللَّهِ أَدْوَمُهَا وَإِنْ قَلَّ

“The most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are consistent, even if small.”
[Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 783]

Even 5–10 minutes daily builds connection over time.

3. Read With Tajwīd, Not Speed

Allah says:

وَرَتِّلِ الْقُرْآنَ تَرْتِيلًا

“And recite the Qur’an with measured recitation.”
[Qur’an 73:4]

Slow reading allows understanding and reflection.

4. Learn the Meaning of What You Recite

Allah says:

أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْآنَ

“Do they not reflect upon the Qur’an?”
[Qur’an 4:82]

Understanding turns reading into connection.

5. Focus on One Āyah at a Time

Instead of rushing pages:

  • Take one āyah
  • Reflect on it
  • Apply it

Depth matters more than volume.

6. Fix a Specific Time Every Day

Attach Qur’an to a routine:

  • After Fajr
  • Before sleep
  • During a break

Consistency comes from structure.

7. Remove Distractions While Reading

  • Put your phone away
  • Sit in a quiet place

The Qur’an requires attention, not background reading.

8. Listen to Recitation Regularly

Listening improves your recitation and connection.

9. Revisit the Same Passages

Do not rush to finish.

Repeating builds:

  • Understanding
  • Reflection
  • Memory

10. Keep It Simple and Sustainable

Do not overload yourself with:

  • Large goals
  • Complex plans

A simple daily habit is stronger.

The Qur’an is not meant to be finished.
It is meant to be lived with.
